Meaning:
The action of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression; release.
Freedom from limits on thought or behaviour.
Liberation - is a magnanimous act of compassion towards another in the bid to give independence and happiness. This is an expression of living in peace without obstacles, fear, oppression, hate etc; knowing you have no limitations in life, certain goals that can be achieved and keys to your freedom.
About the story of a famous South African activist and former president Nelson Mandela (1918-2013), who helped to bring an end to apartheid and has been a global advocate for human rights. Mandela's ambivalence and devotion to public service; cost him two marriages and kept him distant from a family life he might otherwise have cherished, till death. His book - Long Walk to Freedom also discloses a strong and generous spirit that refused to be broken under the most trying circumstances--a spirit in which just about everybody can find something to admire.
Mandela is just a typical example of being phenomenal. He strived for the freedom of black citizens; from racism, slavery... assault; to the restoration of human rights, independence of a nation, amongst others. This act made him a hero and legend, with his impact never to be forgotten. It simply means, he made a great impact on the world at large. It is now a question of how you want to be remembered of that impact you made in life to make someone happy and free if not many.
Looking at the streets, for instance, you see the less privilege who are struggling to feed themselves, no shelter, no family, no education and so on. All they pray for or cry out is to be set free from their predicament. To have the same grace and opportunity as you. To be able to speak about their sufferings and help others as well. Yet, those that are opportune to support either resist their cry for help or be part of their suffering.
Having to care about other people and their suffering should be a desire beyond our control. It is a privilege given by God for us to be a help and to love one another, no matter your status in life. It also requires a huge sacrifice of time, resources and character to be phenomenal. With just a little or more help rendered, you will put a smile on someone's face. Don't forget that what you do now to help others or set someone free can go a long way to be your reward someday. Then, you will be overwhelmed by your impact. Hence, JOY.
Liberation - Your Freedom, My Joy.
