OPPORTUNITY

Meaning:

  • an appropriate or favourable time or occasion

  • a situation or condition favourable for attainment of a goal.

  • a good position, chance, or prospect, as for advancement or success.

One of the best approaches to achieving a goal or purpose is taking chances; having the strong will to face any risk that may be the way to attaining success and determined to meet targets set for yourself. That path which leads you to your purpose is OPPORTUNITY; what you are given or provided with to make things happen as planned to build lasting relationships with people and being substantial.

Truth be told, we often fail to recognize an opportunity when it comes, this has been the reason most of us feel we are not privileged like those made in its life. Our experience, skills and talents can be the source in which an opportunity is derived from and developed to make a difference. You can be a great cook and build a restaurant with it; You can be a good swimmer and teach people how to be good at it; You can as well be ambitious and a great negotiator, which is part of the qualities an entrepreneur should have and so on; but we mostly look forward to an opportunity to find us instead. We are expected to find opportunities that would help us achieve our goals.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Winston S. Churchill

  • Be open-minded: You need to be able to relate your goals and objectives with people who might be interested in what you have to offer.

"Keeping an open mind is essential and pausing and considering before you say no is imperative. "

  • Be Patient: Don't be in a haste to accept all offers in the act of desperation, it can be a distraction to keep you out of purpose.

  • Learn to trust your instincts

  • Stay positive and focused

  • Be Reliable: How you can handle the first opportunity will determine whether your client is willing to give you another one or probably refer you to someone else.

  • Keep developing yourself: Don't relent in sharpening your skills and competencies required for your business or career.
