Meaning: A feeling of not being satisfied with your situation or with the way you are being treated.
Discontentment occurs when you expect too much from necessities of Life or basically have higher expectation for a perfect life such as love, marriage, family, success, wealth or food.
It is good to have great expectations in Life but not at the detriment of your life or others. Not living according to your standards, what you have at the moment or what you can provide for yourselves could result to greed and cause you to do irrational things that could be disastrous to life.
People work hard to get rewards but only few get what they deserve from their labor.
The Question is: Can you measure the work you have done for a good reward? What if the reward never comes?
I agree it is demoralizing to think about it in the first place but we should be more realistic with life. We don't get all the satisfaction we want from either our work or any of our desires. It is best to accept a situation we find ourselves sometimes to avoid complications. Keep trusting God and don't relent on the hard work/effort for greater things in life. More like having Faith in God for your good reward.
In the aspect of greed, this is a different case entirely. Sometimes, we don't seem to be satisfied with what we have and want to have more even when there is no means or possibility of having it. You might feel like having the latest designer bag just because a friend just got it....but you can't afford it. You rather source for the money from friends or anyone to have the bag by all means.
We all revel in the illusion of control or power over circumstances, whereas we barely are even in control of our own selves. This constant hammering of reality over your illusory hopes and wishes makes one frustrated and discontent.
Discontentment leads to discouragement, depression and despair.
The best remedy for discontentment is having a grateful heart regardless of what you have. Gratitude heals the soul and encourages you to wait for your own time.
